Worried reboot? reset? dead battery?

Today and in the past (2x) I've had a "low battery" message and when I changed out the main battery, I lost the screen and it either won't turn on or the "Dell" logo comes on then a message comes on saying "if you want to erase all data . . . press . . . if you want to cancel this operation press email button" (more or less). I don't want to lose my data but I'm no brain and don't know what to do. I replaced the battery cell, even bent the prongs up to contact better, tried hitting the reset button (with a paper clip) but nada!

I seen to recall that when it happened before, I did something with the memory cards?

Help,
Rozina

Welcome to Aximsite!

It sounds like your backup battery was dead and your main battery was almost drained. When you replaced the main battery, you got that message about erasing data because there was nothing to keep your data in memory (since your backup battery was dead).

Unfortunately, I think you will need to start from scratch to get your device working again. You can do this by doing a hard reset (soft reset while holding down the power button) or by removing both batteries for a few minutes. If you have a recent backup, you can restore from that afterwards. If you have synced to Outlook recently, you can also get back that data by resyncing.

Big Smile Thanks, Gigi!

I will get a new back up battery today and try resyncing it. I have the mem cards that may have some of it . I'm such a newbee and non-tech that these kind of things floor me. I appreciate you help.
