Hello everybody.

l am experiencing a peculiar behavior of my Axim 5 while connected to my Hicom 302CF GPS unit:

I use 2 different GPS softwares: Tomtom 5 and Oziexplorer CE. Both display the same strange behavior.

After a while of acting normally the PDA acts as if some invisible finger touches the screen at random causing for Tomtom to go rapidly from menu to menu by itself.

The same happens with Oziexplorer , but is this case, as there is no menu structure like Tomtom, the map display kind of moves around, and eventually switches the GPS reception off.

This behavior, while rare at the beginning is more and more frequent.
I have tried different solutions (reset, etc...) with no success. Since I have a new car
with the new windshield type, I use the external antenna providedI but I do not believe this is the reason since I use the unit in aircraft with no such a windshield.

I believe the cause is hardware. Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before? Thanks for your help.

Your problem is most LIKELY a hardware problem. Try reinstalling BOTH software programs, and also if you have not already, please attempt a soft reset. So before we decide to just say it's a hardware problem, just reinstall the software and do a soft reset and see if it helps. If not, then your GPS system may be going out. Does the unit behave normally when doing other tasks?

Hi,
When it started happening a few month back, I did Just that. It worked fine for a while but it came back.
The Hicom 302 CF GPs unit works fine when connected to my laptop (a tablet PC actually) with Oziexplorer or other Software.
Do you think that an OS upgrade will help things out or should I just buy another PDA?
