Can't get past alignment screen

Hey Folks,
I recently hard reset my 4g axim5 because of media player woes. After I did the reset I cant get past the "Tap to Align" screen. No matter how many times to tap the X'es around the screen, it just starts over. I tried another hard reset, a soft reset and removing and re installing the battery.
Anybody else ever see this one?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Yes, I've seen it, and there was some danged key combination you could use to get past it, and it just isn't coming to me. Yes, I've seen it, and I don't THINK it's a problem with your PDA, though it is possible

Folks on this site have suggested to others with a similar problem to be sure that the there is nothing stuck under the screen edges. You can use a playing card and run it along the edge of the screen under the top cover to see if there is debris lodged in there that is causing the alignment to fail.

Optionally, you can also search this site. You should find NUMEROUS posts from people with the same problem and others who have tried to offer suggestions.

For example from just a few days ago --> http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...t=align+screen

and another with a utility that you can use to align the screen from your desktop --> http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...t=align+screen

i remember seeing the suggestions to clean along the screen edge as well as firmly and squarely placing the tip of the stylus in the exact center of the alignment crosshairs and rapidly removing it, pulling straight up. worth a try.

Another thing I ran into related to screen alignment. See http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ght=Cpt_kludge
Several years ago I found how to fix the Battery Backup issue that has plagued X5 owners.(see http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showp...6&postcount=29) Recently, I started getting slow responses from my X5. Then yesterday the alignment seemd to go away, I had to keep realigning the screen. After checking around I found that the backup battery(that had been at 100% for the last couple of years) was at 90%. As it had not been changed since I repaired the backup Battery problem, I changed it yesterday. All the speed and alignment problems have disapeared! Good Luck, Joe
