My ActiveSync problem solved

Apparently the docking station does not like to be connected to my computer via a USB hub. As soon as I connected the Axim it would sync but in less than a minute ActiveSync would say there was no connection. This made it impossible to download anything to my Axim. After pulling my hair out looking everywhere for the problem I finally found a list somewhere in a help file on the Dell website that listed 3 or 4 connections that could cause problems with my ActiveSync. On this list was connecting via a USB hub which is what I was connected to. Well, I disconnected the dock from the hub and plugged it directly into the back of my computer and "PRESTO" no more sync problems (It's a good thing because I haven't much hair left to pull). If anyone else is having this problem take a look at how you connect to your computer. Try to connect directly to your PC. It solved my problem:)

This may not be just an Axim problem, I had the same issue with my iPaq 3650.

Moved it off my USB Hub and presto it worked!

Ironically, one of Dell's solution to dropped connection problems is using a powered USB hub. Therefore, as with all these solutions, YMMV. I have tried both and continue to get dropped connections followed by periods of time where it connects just fine. I'll see what happens when I get the replacement from Dell on Tuesday. I think that there is a timing issue in the hardware that is causing problems with USB connections and some SD cards that will require a firmware upgrade or rom update to be fixed (at least that's my guess <g>).
