Worried Dumb question?

i have my axim syncing at work, but want to be able to send colleagues emails and details of appointments that i have organised when i get back and sync.

How do i get ( or can i get) my axim to send and receive emails via the office server.

Also, how do i access the internet with my axim when it is in the cradle through the co. adsl conection?

cheers people!

Hi there not sure exactly what you are looking to do but any emails you write or appointments you make will automatically be sent via your outlook when you sync

as far as i am aware to get the Axim to sync straight with the server (missing out your desktop) your company needs to be using either of the following:-

1) Exchange 2003
2) Exchange 2000 with Mobile plugin installed - cant remember what it is called but will find out.

As far as using the net, you have to setup the desktop pass through options in acticvesync TOOLS > OPTIONS > RULES

I have no idea why you would want to try and surf the net using the cradle and the tiny little screen though when your desktop is right in front of you but i hope this helps you

I agree with brywebster that surfing the web while the Axim is in the cradle is a pretty unsatisfying experience but I thought I would point out an alternative scenario that may work for you. If your company is running a wireless network, you could get a WiFi CF card for your Axim and make a direct connection to the network (rather than a pass-through using the cradle). In this way, you can send email directly from the Axim (without waiting for an opportunity to sync) and also could surf the web when you are away from your desk (still, not too satisfying but would allow you to check facts during a meeting or something like that. Note: WM03 is supposed to improve the Pocket IE functioning so maybe this will be more useful in the near future.)

One additional point, even if your company does not use WiFi, you can do all the above with a Network (Ethernet) CF card – you’d just still need to be close enough to a LAN port to plug in.
