Can an axim or a card reader damage an SD card?

just had my first bad experience with sandisk. Is the card damaged? Would i be able to sell it to someone who does not have a ppc (uses the sd for milonta, nikon dig photos)?

Thank you

I use my sandisk card with other hardware and have had no issues with it...

So do I, but then I've never had an issue in my Ax either.

So far (1 month) I haven't had one issue either... and I develop off of my SanDisk SD 256MB card. The program I'm developing does file encryption so it creates and deletes files all the time. I also copy a ton of MP3s to it and play them. No problems yet. I'll knock on press wood (my cubcle) for luck. :D

Does anyone else have scratches on the metal reader part of their SD cards? I just got my Lexar 64mb card a few weeks ago and it just doesn't seem natural, I've only used it on my Axim and a Kodak camera.

are you talking about the gold-plated (real gold, right?) pins on the SD card? those are supposed to have scratches on them! any card which has been used before should have them. it's normal, it comes from making contact with the SD slot. Sometimes you can tell if a card has been used in more than one device, because each pin will have scratches that don't quite line up (ie, more than one scratch line on each pin).

if you buy a card without scratches like that, it means the card has NOT been tested in the manufacturing process.
