CF Problem

My Axim does not recognize my CF card. Dell sent a replacement CF card, but the problem persists. I do not get the 'format' screen as I do when using the SD card.

Are you sure you've put it all the way in. There's a fair amount or resistance before it actually seats in place. Otherwise, it sounds like your Axim's defective.

the CF is all the way in. so it's probably the axim. i don't want to go through the hassle of returning it, so will just live with using SD cards. thanks for taking the time to reply.

Ah ha!

borrowed a Kingston CF card and (drum roll) IT WORKED!

this is after a total of 3, count 'em, 3 SanDisk CF cards that would not function.

there's a lesson here somewhere.....

Just wanted to say how grateful I am for the wealth of information shared by everyone here. I, as a newbie, would be lost without it. Thanks to aximsite, i steered clear of the SanDisk when i bought a CF card last week, got PNY. Otherwise, I would have bought a SanDisk by default, because that is what I got with and bought for my digital camera in the late 90's. I paid 40 something dollars for a 16 meg back then, and just picked up a 256 for $70. Bought with the Axim in mind but will also use with the camera. I put the card in my camera and it says I will get 512 pics on the "best" setting, god knows, how many if someone uses the lower quality settings! This saves me from having to download pics to a laptop or my Axim, while on vacation.

Thanks all!
