Why? They have the A03 version on the site. That is the latest version of PPC 2002 for the Axim Basic and Advanced. It includes all the same software as A02, but some extra bug fixes, like for Pocket IE. Good Luck!

He needs it because he somehow lost his Built-In Storage Memory (how did you manage to do that ? :crooked: ), and even after a hard reset the problem remains.....
Possibly he'll get it back if he installed the A02.....which I doubt....you should call Dell anyway

I should call Dell...but ..I bought it in the USA last month...and I live in Spain...so.... :(
Will I have to live without buil-in storage??
I read something like that in a post here... It shouldn't be that normal!! It must be a software question....so it should be solved using software!!

Well, thats a tricky situation indeed......buying something in another country, and then bringing it in your own country.....fortunatelly, in the many times that I have done the same, either the item broke down but it was so cheap I didnt really care, or the item never had any problem whatsoever......guess I was lucky.....
Anyway, the built-in is 20MB, and its the fastest storage memory (other than the RAM of course). You should try to get it back, but if you dont, its no big deal.....however, you should give a call to your local Dell, and see what they have to say about the matter......

I bought my Ax in the USA also and ordered it to my mom's house - She then forwarded it to me here...After having a problem with my dpad I contacted Dell, who sent a replacement to my mom's house - and I sent the original unit back to my mom's house to be forwarded to Dell.
Did you use an intermediary in the US? Someone you could use again to to the recieving, sending, and forwarding? That may be an option - albiet not very easy...
Of course the sad finish to the story is that after the second unit was sent to me here, someone at the shipping company in Barcelona decided they wanted my Ax more than me and has borrowed it permanently...Not saying that will happen to you - But wanted to give you an option and of course a warning...
I've since bought another Ax and it's waiting as we speak to be picked up by me at my mom's house at the end of this month...I'm counting down the days to see how bad Moblie 2003 really is...

Thanks the Ace.I will try and call Dell Spain.
And I think I found tha A02 ROM if the filename is R58550.EXE.
The problem is it recognizes the A03 installed so it will stop installation. Also the A03 wont reinstall for the same reason.
I think restoring the flash-ROM could solve my problem. Maybe hexediting it or if someone knew a way the Axim would lie about the Rom it has installed.

Or if something goes wrong, its a sure-proof way to really mess up your Axim..... ;)
Give the Dell people a chance. From my own experience in Greece, they were really helpful (albeit, not for technical issues, just delivery status, invoice and stuff like that). Maybe they could help. If everything else fails, only then should you start tinkering with hex-editors and such ;)

I know about the risks of hexediting....and I dont really want to kill my Axim. Also I might wait for the PocketPc 2003 upgrade (I should have it for free).Again I will have to ask a friend in the USA to send it to me.

You should try the A03 update, and see if the built-in storage "comes back". By the way, updating the ROM doesn't wipe out anything in the Built-In Storage.
