How to reinstall A03 upgrade?:SOLVED

Does anybody knows how to do it?
Before installation it checks which version is already in the Axim..
and it wont continue if it detects you have the A03 (the same goes if you try to downgrade to A02).

Does someone know how to make the Axim lie about it installed ROM or how to trick the setup?
Could it be a registry setting?
Thanks.

MAYBE THE SOLUTION IS HERE!!!: (sorry for the long post)

The linked thread is on dell support forum:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...cending&page=1

It says:
"Thanks for your useless help.... but i solve this problem by myself

1st.... One week ago i made a International Phone Call to the "DELL SUPPORT" but nobody can help me... nobody know anything about ROM Restore on DELL AXIM PDAs.

I think DELL should pay me, im more able than YOU to solve this problem. he he

i will try to explain to you (if you can understand) how to repair a ROM Damage.

a) I found a alternative file explorer for pocket pc (Because the Original Pocket PC´s file explorer was damaged since the rom update) and with the "HOME" menu, add a NEW shortcut to this "File Explorer" called "PocketExplorer.exe".

b) Using other DELL AXIM (Friend´s PDA) i try again to make a "ROM UPDATE" but when the FIRST STEP of instalation are copying the files to the PDA... i was look any folder on the PDA to find "WHAT ARE COPYING THE SETUP on the PC".... and found many NEW files on the /TEMP/ folder of my Friend´s DELL AXIM PDA, and this are the files:

24MAPPS.nb0 (1792KB)
24MCONSUMER.nb0 (3074KB)
BROWSING.nb0 (2816KB)
COREAPPS.nb0 (3584KB)
KERNEL.nb0 (2560KB)
MISC_1.nb0 (2048KB)
MISC_2.nb0 (2048KB)
MISC_3.nb0 (2048KB)
MISC_4.nb0 (512KB)
OS.nb0 (2816KB)
SHELL.nb0 (2048KB)
SYNC.nb0 (1024KB)

Before the Setup complete the 100% i try to copy all of these files on a COMPACT FLASH card attached to this PDA.

When the setup complete the 100% the PDA was locked and start the ROM UPDATE on the PDA ( 1/12... 2/12...etc)

My friend´s PDA complete the ROM UPDATE succesfully....

After that i copy these files on my Damaged PDA (Using the PocketExplorer.exe) to the /TEMP/ folder... but i dont know HOW to make the update with this files.....

But i see the files of the original ROM UPDATE PACKAGE (On my PC) and see ONE file that CANT run on WINDOWS XP, this file is "System Update.exe", and i copy this file to the /temp/ directory...

I run this file on my POCKET PC.... and the UPDATE started,

On the screen appear "System Updating....."
And after that appear:

1/12
2/12
3/12
4/12
.... etc..

My PDA restarted automatically

And THATS ALL !.... the ROM of my PDA is RESTORED and WORKING...

I dont know WHY DELL can´t tell me this... is very SIMPLE...
DELL could send me this files via EMAIL and tell me "Copy all files to TEMP directory on your PDA and run executable file..."!!!!!!!

I was not whining!..... I was only requesting your HELP... the HELP that DELL MUST give to the CUSTOMERS!!..

Thanks for NOTHING !

Ok, so alejandrobarona is my (our) hero!!
He is not Spanish,he is from Ecuador.

Also there is this one by him:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...roborja#M19029

You will understand his last line on the post I pasted.

I should let him know about www.aximsite.com and that he helped some of us a lot.

Veras.. has lo siguiente... (PASO A PASO)...

Has un HARD RESET,

http://www.alejandroborja.com/hosted...t_explorer.exe

http://www.alejandroborja.com/hosted...glish_rom_a03/

24MAPPS.nb0 (1792KB)
24MCONSUMER.nb0 (3074KB)
BROWSING.nb0 (2816KB)
COREAPPS.nb0 (3584KB)
KERNEL.nb0 (2560KB)
MISC_1.nb0 (2048KB)
MISC_2.nb0 (2048KB)
MISC_3.nb0 (2048KB)
MISC_4.nb0 (512KB)
OS.nb0 (2816KB)
SHELL.nb0 (2048KB)
SYNC.nb0 (1024KB)

Aplastas en NEW.

Esperando unos segundos, aparecera:

1/12
2/12....etc..

http://www.todopocketpc.com/foro/sho...1200#post41200

Avisame cualquier cosa.

FINALLY: 2 more links mentioned in his threads where you can find the files neccesary to recover from a failed upgrade, reinstall an upgrade or even as he says (I would like to hear confirmation)

Exclamation

be carefull with those files !
A few weeks ago i could save two Axims and the update worked flawlessly, now it tried the same, and killed two Axim's with Memory errors and not booting into the OS anymore.
They just show the DELL Logo shortly and change to an empty screen !!!
Maybe something changed in between !!!

The method does work with a CF card !!!

Unfortunately it didn't fix my original problem (loosing the built-in storage space and having the Ax run at 1/10 th normal speed)

Oh well - It was fun to try.
