I just got the axim and noticed that the total storage memory is only 5.61. (It is an Axim 300) Is this normal or do I need to send it back?

If you mean the built-in storage, then you are correct. That is the ammount of ROM space left over.

While we are talking about the ROM memory...what is the advantage of having more ROM memory? You can't write anything to it...correct?
