Who is returning their Axim?

I just ordered my Axim 400mhz a few days ago. It should be here in a couple of days. Was so happy about ordering it that I ordered the Brando Screen Protector and Chrome stylus replacement ahead of receiving the Axim. THEN I happen to read the posting on the problems with PPC 2003 only on Dell's Axim.

For those who cannot return it, it seem like they are looking for a solution. I hope they find it.

But for those of us within the 30 days refund/exchange period, I like to know how many is giving up and returning their unit. Has Dell's denial given you a bad taste of their customer service?

I am ready to return main as soon as it gets here. But should I open it and try it out since I have 30 days?

Any advise and suggestions are appreciated and thank you in advance.

I say, you have the 30 day period so you might as well try it out. but remind your self 14 days before you return it. You will have to call Dell for a return authorization so that they can properly refund you.

Yes...Try it out first, and if you are not 100% happy with it - return it within 30 days for a full refund!

Im waiting for my replacement unit!
If nothing is done about the PPC2003/Dell issue i will return my Ax and go straight to my nearest HP store for a 2210!

I think he was having a problem with the sound crackling not only through the speaker, but also through the headphone jack. It would make me return it too. :D

HP Ipaq 2215 is 400.00 US Dollars. Is it that much better than Dell Axim?

I called dell on the last day of my 30 day period and returned the axim for a full refund. I then purhased an HP 2215 from the HP website for the student price of $293, then I got an extra $26 off because the HP rep. I talked to gave me a managers discount.

I think overall I ended up paying less for the HP and I get a beter machine. I wouldn't have upgraded to the 2215 if I wasn't still in my 30 day window though.

how do you get a full refund? aren't you subject to a 15% restocking fee?

I wasn't aware there was a 15% restocking fee. That will be fine though anyway. The HP 2215 is worth it, and I still got it for far less then retail!

Fortunately for me, I bought mine through the military exchange, which allows 90 days on electronic products to get a full refund. One of the benefits of wearing a uniform, and Astounded EEG also said the Ipaq 2210 was $267 for govt. employees. Sounds like a no-brainer, but I just ordered a new cradle for the Ax. :(

My Advanced works great, but it ate a Sandisk card, and the benchmarks I have seen are not impressive. Is there any chance that the "patched" 2003 upgrade will have benchmarks close to the performance of the 2210/15?

BTW, this site is just a fountain of info. Thanks to all.

I returned mine for a refund for reasons I have stated already on other posts. I just decided it was worth the extra for a 2210 and now that I have bought it I think I made the right choice.
