ah crap!

no i didnt fully charge it... this is my first axim... it didnot come w/no instructions or even a disk. Got a great deal of 180 for the x5 advanced 400mhz... you can see why i took the deal. Anyways if all else fails ill exchange it... ill try chargingthe rest of it up. I dont know if it makes a different but when i first started it up the ac adapter was pluged in.

which should I try first charging it or pull the bats out?

oh another thing it does say that my backup bat is very low I dont know if that would have anyeffect on it or not [honestly dont thinkso but willing to try anything] the reason why im not just exchanging it is because I have to wait for new one to become in stock which will take bout 20 days, then shipping there and back which I have to pay for! grrr one way takes about 5 days ground from MI to CA. And i did not buy this thing from dell I bought it from a closeout store on the internet

which is a great cheap store, this would be my first complaint out of about 20 orders, of a total of like 2g

oh and I allready tryed a hard reset, restored it and picked the option to keep it once

how can i get a disk?, maybe ziped... is there anything worthwhile on that disk that I cant DL off the internet?

Oh I cant find the axim x5 driver on www.dell.com/support for PC, so cant sync either even if I get past this right here. Can some1 give me a link to the driver or if they have it on hand could they post it?

Here's a site you can the drivers from. Link. To install them you just click the right one (not sure which) and then click install. You'll only see the install option on one of them so you can't make a mistake.

Also you said the backup battery is low. Sorry to tell you, but the backup battery isn't chargeable so you're going to have to live with it low. As for plugging it in right when you get it and using it. That's what I did and it worked fine. When you align the screen try holding the stylus upright and tapping right where the X is. Sometimes if the tap is too far away it'll restart the alignment process. Atleast if it works that way you'll know it's not the Ax.

ok... I did get it working, yay, but it did it again I tapped the screen with my finger ok worked so I tryed setting the transcriber on so next time it goes off I can see what it is doing... so I started writing the the word thing then it stoped and all the writing went to the bottom! except it was stuck down there it didnt go up or down anymore than 1/4"! so what Im thinkin is a loose connection or there is a presure point underneith the frame, but im not going to mess w/it because its still in its waranty period and after all its remanufactured so I dont expect a perfect unit right then and there.

oh im not sure if its the hardware or software! if I unplug the thing and take all bats out leave it on a flat unmoving surface for bout 4 hrs its perfect till 5 min into using it, when I tap it very lightly [bearly registering] Ill get about 10 mins. Soft reseting sometimes works but not allways.

Oh i though that there is a very slim chance it could be the back^ bat, so I replaced it still the same but at least Idont get that annoying warning thing on there!

oh if I press the top right corner the input method menu comes up!LOL

I still love my ax [when it works] thanks for all your suggestions ill just have to send it in and ill read that owners manual
