I can't remember how long it took for mine. Are you using a format program to format? And how much stuff do you have on the card?

intrepid, can you be more specific about the problem you were having?

also, I think simpletech explicitly recommends against formatting its cards.

i've never formatted a memory card so I don't know how long it'd take.

i tryed to format it using resco explorer 2003. but i did a soft reset because i was tired of waiting and reformatted when ppc asked me and it worked.

i didn't know that simpletech recommends against formatting. any clue why ?

you have to ask happycheesecake, i think i read it first in one of his posts and he's the expert....

generally though simpletech cards never need to be formatted.

what was the original problem though? what do you mean by "the usage showed it was too big?"

Me expert? Nah!!!

Hmm. Simpletech, Lexar & Sandisk have told me not format SD cards as FAT32... However a Axim-based format (CnetX or StorageTools) should only take seconds as its basically a File Allocation Table wipe rather than a low-level format.

I've just tried formatting one of my (many) SD cards using Resco Explorer 2003 and its very slow.... Its a pity Explorer 2003 doesn't have a progress bar during formatting..

10 minutes and its still going...
20 minutes and its still going...

Just done a soft reset, run Storeage Tools over the SD card (no problem) and checked the card using Resco. It hasn't touched it. Anyone had any joy with formatting a SD card using Resco Explorer 2003 in an Axim?
