Damn, talk about "back from the dead" ;)

Anyway, indeed the PPC2003 has the "Maximum Performance" setting, which sets the CPU Freq to 400MHz, and the PXBus to 200MHz. Its not overclocking, simply using the maximum performance settings of the hardware........

I dont own an Axim yet, so I am curious about this subject. If I buy the basic model can I have 200mhz internal Bus or thats only for the Advance model?.
English is not my native language so sorry if you find some "errors" in my post.

i have a pxa250, and from what i've read... the "maximum performance" option isnt in my version of WM2003. does this mean that i need to hack my bus speed??

Unfortunately, the 199 mhz PXBus speed was not implemented in the PXA250.

This has been a MOST interesting thread which I only discovered yesterday (11/13).

It led me to purchase Advanced XScaleCtrl. I entered the values; L=27, M=4, N=1. Using CPUID to view the results it pushed the PXbus to 199MHz and the CPU speed to 399. The speed increase for all apps, games, you name it, is fantastic. The system is rock-solid stable. Mine is the basic A5/300 MHz model but with a PXA255/A0 processor running PPC 2002.

I am most pleased with the results. $5 well spent. Thanks to all who contributed. GREAT READING!

One more question. It seems from this thread that upgrading to PPC 2003 would also improve performance and stability. Is this a correct assumption? Worth the $25 Dell wants? (Bought mine too early to qualify for the free upgrade.)

In theory, that is correct. Some that have had problems would disagree, however. I upgraded with great success and have been happy with the result.
