I have also tried Turbo Tray and XCPuScalar with mixed results. Turbo Tray does not have enough flexibility to allow the results you want.
XScaleCtrl and Pocket Hack Master both give the results you describe above, however, you can not set the manual settings on Pocket Hack Master with an unregistered version (I do like the additional features it offers though).
It will be interesting to see if Dell acknowledges this as an issue (who knows, they may already know about it -- patch fixes aren't usually described in detail)

Yep, Pocket Hack Master v2.41 beta confirms what CPUID has been reporting... My stock PXA255 Axim at the default setting of normal (in PPC2002 processor settings: 400 MHZ) is running a PXBus of only 99 MHZ.
If anyone want to see, I would suggest you download the 2.41 beta version from http://www.pockethackmaster.com
When you execute the program, it will fetch what the PXBus is running at...

I don't know if it would be a direct twice as fast difference, but the HP 2215 CPUID screen shot posted in the other thread shows them running the PXBus at 199 MHZ and the 2215 is reported to be pretty fast. Mostly due to WM2003 I'm sure, but the double internal bus speed surely doesn't hurt!
Besides, the PXA255 is supposed to be running internally at 200 MHZ (199). I would like my Axim running as it should.

with PHM 2.32 here is what i get
TurboMode: 597 <-- (yikes ;))
CPU Run: 398
Current Mode: Run
Turbo Mode: 398
Run Mode: 398
PXBus Mode: 199
SDRAM max:99
MEM LCD: 99
L = 1 M = 3 N = 3
the n is 3 instead of 2 with the same settings..

Unfortunately I too have a new axim using pc 2003 and I am looking for a fix (temporary) till Dell gets there act together. As a result I have down loaded hack master and changed the settings to L: 27, M4x, N1.00. My SDRAM frequency: 990.5, Memory LCD frequency: 99.5, Run turbo mode frequency 1.00, Mem to run mode freuency multiplier 4.0, turbo is 398 MHz and run is 398. Are these the readings I should have? and do I have to make these changes ever time I use the unit?

what is your pxbus frequency?
you might have to DL CPUID from pocketpccity.com to find it out.

For those interested, Intel's XScale Developer Guide has additional info on this...
http://developer.intel.com/design/pc...s/27869301.pdf
Look on page 66-67 (pages 3-4 to 3-5). Section 3.3.3 and Table 3.1 has some info on what to expect. Caleb's post on JmE's link above shows what his results were using some of these specs. I don't know if this really is the problem with Dell and the Axim (Gee, if Dell would hip mine, I could try!!), but this is similar to Windows not "filling up" IP packets in pre-XP OSes. Just a little tweak here and there to get the best performance...

From what I have read and and understood thus far from JME is that the PXbus frequency for the advanced 400MHz PXA255 chip is supposed to be 200MHz according to Intel. This is without any 3rd Party apps manipulating this. The results that I posted from CPUID is from a configuration where I am not running any 3rd Party apps. My PXbus frequency is at 99MHz. When others are talking about running their Axims at the maximum setting, is this with or without 3rd Party Apps? When I go the change my CPU settings, all I have is three options (either Normal, PowerSave or Auto).
I am also very interested to know what CPUID is reporting on other Axims without running any 3rd Party apps.

Here's a screenshot of my X5 Basic (300) with the PXA255 processor, using Pocket Hackmaster 2.41b. I am not running Hackmaster, except just to start it up so that it can query the CPU settings.

Dtwatson,
I minimize Pocket Hack Master and I then click on the Icon in the lower right hand tray:
Sticky CPU, Sitkcy MEMCLK, Change CPU Speed on Startup, Change MEMCLK on startup, Turbo mode, Switch CPU modes instantly. I also have Minimize on start and Register to start checked.
I am not sure these are correct, but that is how I keep my Axim always at high speed with the PXBus set to 199 MHZ. I am by no means an expert on overclocking. Indeed, I am barely a novice.
Everyone should exercise caution when changing these value. Make sure you have a good backup (or two). Months ago, I got a setting incorrect and an old Axim I had heated up and required a battery removal and a subsequent hard reset to get it going agin. The Axim was/is just fine (it was an older PXA250). Just please be careful!

Im sorry, im a little stupid with all the thechnical computer stuff, but would it be safe to say that one of the biggest problems with WM2003 is the bus speed of 100 instead of 200? And if that is true, and the PXA 250 chip is only good at 100, isn't it also true that those of us with the older chip will always have poor results with WM 2003?

In response to JmE's post, check out Intel's documentation on the whole deal first.
http://developer.intel.com/design/pc...s/27869301.pdf
Pages 63-67 are a good reference. It even has a handy little table to show you what your settings and results should be.

I don't think it is safe to say that it is one of the biggest problems with WM2003. However, anything that might be slowing down the processor could be a problem. Since the PXA250 has the slower PXBus, it could reduce performance...
