Mad Power Button Issues

I have had my Axim for a little over a month now, and have been experiencing problems with the power button. Has anyone else had the problem where they push the power button and the Axim doesn't turn off? Dell sent me a replacement and it was even worse. It also had a dead pixel!!!! I think I am going to return my beloved Axim now, as it it terribly annoying at school and around places, when I have to stand around waiting for the power button to WAKE UP AND TURN THE AXIM OFF!!!!!!!!!
Had an X50v. Tired of carrying two devices.

Some people have problems when they hold it down too long. Holding it down for too long will turn on and off the backlight. It should just need a quick press.

You could download a software alternative to turn off your ax without using the power button (but of course with a machine that's only a month old you shouldn't need to do this imho)

I think you should use a software anyway even if your axi is still new, this way you'll save the life of the power button

hey bernie_rubber, how do you like HandyMenu so far ?
I have the Power off as my quick action

Got so sick of the power button, returned the Axim and bought the tiny HP iPaq h1930. So small and good looking. I also swapped my Proporta Axim Hard Case for a 19xx version. Can't wait!!!

The only issue I've had with the power button is that it doesn't always respond right after the unit turns on. It seems that the Axim is doing a few things in the background (ie - checking battery %, etc.). If I wait at least 5 seconds after turning it on, the button works perfectly.

It seems the Axim doesn't respond well to being rapidly toggled on and off.

I don't have problems with the h1930 with a quick on/off. Its soooo good! It even plays video better than Axim in PocketTV (31fps on iPaq, 24fps on Axim). Good bass too.
