Hehe....yeah. I've been using them for a couple years on various PDAs. Never had a problem with shipping from Brando.

Just to let Deftech and everyone else know... I place my order for the pda-ir extender in the beginning of July. I just checked my order, and it shipped Aug 1st. Patience is a virtue, but in this case, it is a PDA-IR. From what I heard, it will be well worth it.
Since I started this thread I thought it would be appropriate to also tell everyone that my IR extender is on the way. I noticed my credit card was charged the other day which is a good sign. Hey Deftech, if you made a call to your inside connections I thank you again. For anyone who cares I'll be back with a review of the product after I receive it.

Ok gang, I just purchased the Pda/win software to go with my eagerly awaited IR extender. Now, which one of you guru's is going to tell me how this thing works. I got the basics I think but what about programming my own macros? And who am I kidding if you have any info on the basics send that as well. Thanks.

I found http:\\www.remotecentral.com very helpful. They have many configurations already uploaded in CCF format. You can take a look at those configuration files and check out the macros others have made.
You might also whant to dowload pronto edit. I don't have the url handy, but this program is free and allows you to edit CCF files.
Thanks Bakergm. Did you see the thread about the guy who has his programmed to fire up his computer and send a fax to Dominos to order a pizza? Some people have too much time on their hands. I do have to give him credit for ingenuity

Insearchof, yea that was me. Sometime's I have too much time on my hands. Just to set the record straight, it didn't exactly fire up the computer. The computer, wireless network, and computer controler had to be switched on...
Great, now you gave me something else to work on. Pretty soon, I won't have to be home. I'll just come back to find my Axim laying on the sofa with a piece of peperoni coming out of its SD slot!
Hey Law man, that pic hit me close to home as my lap top took a spill this weekend and I suffered a TOTAL loss. Very tragic. I had to tear it down to just salvage parts. It's off to the great lap top grave yard n the sky.

Great, I'm glad to hear that it sounds like orders are shipping again. Also, I was able (about a week ago) to get in touch with one of Dane's family members, but never got in touch with Dane. He has been gone for a while on a business trip (for his real profession), so that is why things have been rough. That's what I figured, but now it is confirmed. The family member that I contacted said they had not heard from Dane either in a while, but would try and contact him just to make him aware of the troubles. So I'm assuming he was contacted, and things are straightened out. Sounds to me like they're up and rolling again. Everyone enjoy their PDA-ir cards. :D

I really don't understand why you guys want to use you Axim as a remote. When I first got mine, I ran across some software that would allow me to do this. However, I was disappointed because of the range.
After realizing that this was a hardware issue I decided to abandon the idea. I would have also pursued this further if I didn't realize that there is no substitute for a real remote.
I admit that it is cool to say that you can change the channel with your PDA, but really... Is it worth the head ache. I think not.
The time and effort spent on this project could be better utilized investigating GPS. Now that is a worth while battle.
Ghetto, did you read any of this thread? The whole thing started out with the hardware piece that extends the range beyond what your normal remote is capable of now. I will take it you are not a big home theater person or the Philips Pronto series would mean something to you and my Axim has saved me the cost of spending 400 for the pronto. It now does all the same things and in color! The hardware piece is 30 bucks with shipping by the way. Somebody help this guy. To each his own I guess

I have read the posts, and all of the features that Pronto offers can be done with the Axim and a good universal remote. In my opinion, this product is not revolutionary. It is also defiantly not worth the money.
I will admit that I was unaware of the cost of the extender. That is pretty cheap. Especially compared to the cost of GPS equipment. However, I think that knowing where you are going and where you are is more important than knowing what is on tv.
If it is really important, than you can get satellite tv or digital cable. Alternatively, you can go to tvguide.com.
If I am in fact missing something here then please let me know.
