MS Activesync Fails!!!!

I'm having a problem syncing my Axim with my Windows XP desktop. After it's about 1/3 of the way into the sync process, it just says Not Connected. Anyone Help?
I tried reinstalling AS, using the one on the Dell CD as well as 3.7, and following the advice of some at the dell support forums, I set all the .exe's in the ActiveSync folder into compatibility mode for windows 2k to no avail. Please Help!!!

1. Are you syncing via USB?

2. Do you have any options checked to sync? Turn them all off so you can just see if it will connect (ie uncheck mail, contacts, note...)

will try taking out all the sync options right now

In moving your system you probably had to re-route the USB cable. USB is notoriously susceptible to spurious signals, so if the new location added any outside interference, it could have broken the connection.

interesting!
I have a cable jungle behind my desk, and when I moved it I rolled up all the cables and tied them so it looks better, perhaps that was why

There are a few things you should try:

1. Switch the USB cable to another port (if you have one). For some reason this sometimes works.
2. This is the worst, but it helped me; do a hard reset. Make a full backup to a CF/SD/Built-In Storage. Don't restore this though, as it put the same problem back on my Axim.

Good Luck!!!

What would the point of doing a backup be, if you aren't going to restore it? Just curious.....

Actually, I had the exact same problem, and a hard reset was the only thing I could do to clear it up... but... I did the following steps.

1) Complete backup
2) Deleted the AS partership on the Desktip
3) hard reset
4) Sync with computer, worked fine
5) restored from backup
6) sync with computer... been working fine since (3 months)

So... for me... the restore did not put the same problem back on the Axim.
