i use pocket tv to view mpeg music videos that I download from kazaa. When i watch them on my computer the videos are crisp and run clear. However, when I load them to my axim(400mhz) the video is choppy. Is there anything anyone could suggest to make the video play better. I also tried watching a windows media video and that played even worse. please help.

Yeah, that's normal.. You have to scale (sample) the video down to a PPC friendly resolution, framerate, etc..

You can do that with desktop WMP, or Virtualdub or Flaskmpeg or Tmpeg or a few others...

I haven't done much PPC video work myself, so no recommendations here... But I've heard there's some good web tutorials on how to do it...

Check this tutorial out. Wicked, no-brainer! I ripped like 3 movies lastnite using the double-pass method... yup, you'll definately want to use the 'job control' batch method to let it run while you sleep!

Cheers.

I have ppc 2002 on my x5 and my videos play smoothly. I was using pocket tv to play mpegs at first but once I tried betaplayer I dont use pocket tv anymore. There was some noticeable skipping every now and then with pocket tv but no skipping for the same movie file with betaplayer. I think the only reason you saw an improvement with ppc 2003 was that it doubles the buss speed which speeds up reading but it puts a big hit on your battery life. I would bet a 2002 os pda will run longer on a single charge than a 2003 os pda but I could be wrong if you put the 2003 os in powersave mode.
