Exclamation Last resort before Hard Reset...

Okay... I am about to scream. I havent been able to synch all day. And whats worse I havent synched since Saturday and i have alot of information in my Axim that I dont even know is backed up. The Built-in backup utility doesnt ever finish, so I am am stuck.

I will plug it in, it will say "Connected" and start to check for changes... The bar will move about a quarter inch and then it will halt and say "Syncronization couldnt be completed successfully. Disconnect your device and try again." That doesnt work. I have rebooted twice, re-installed ActiveSynch and soft resetted the Axim 3 times. I am at the end of my rope! The ONLY thing I can think that was done to my Axim was earlier today I uninstalled Avantgo with the Remover app... It removed it and I got bback about 10megs of space which I am hapy for, but now I cant sync!!! Is Avantgo required to use the Axim? Or could the Remover program have removed something that is necessary???

And I did a forum search and couldnt find anything that has worked for me. At this point I would like to ask if MS Money information gets synched when you do a regular synch, cause I have alot of information there I cant lose. *sigh*

I get that message occasionally. It usually happens to me when I am tunneled in with VPN to my work network and try to connect the Axim after the VPN connection is made. Basically, what I think is happening is that the network connections are getting confused. Try opening activesync and set it so nothing syncs at all, then connect. Now disconnect again and set it to sync what you want and reconnect. That has worked for me in the past as well.

Microsoft has some articles you might want to read

No Dice... Tried everything and even deleted the partnership and still no sync. I am using a simple usb cable to sync, it shouldnt be this hard cause it has worked all last week fine. So as of now I guess I am riding the hard reset train... Also I dont have MS Money for the PC I only have Money for the Pocket PC that came on the CD so I guess I have to re-enter everything.

Worried

Okay this is really botched up...

I open ActiveSYnc on the Axim and try to start the sych process from there while it is plugged in and I get the following message:

Quote:
TROUBLE CONNECTING
Unable to connect with current settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.
It sounds easy but when i click settings the settings are all the same they have always been. I think when I was fiddling with Remover earlier to uninstall AvantGo I must have did something wrong. I know I uninstalled orphan links and such... Thats what I get for trying to do a little spring cleaning!

Hard Reset it is. *SIGH*

Make sure your connection on your PPC isn't set to 115200 or some other serial setting if you are using USB. Make sure it's set to Default USB if that's what you are using. If you are using serial, then make sure it's not on USB.

This took me 1.5 hours to figure out while I was away from home and didn't have my cradle.

Thanks... I ended up doing the hard reset. I think it was due to me fiddling with removing stuff I wasnt supposed to. Cause I noticed that everytime I opened ActiveSync on the Axim it wouldnt stay open, it would always close down if I switched to another program, and before it used to always be running.... Anyway, thanks for the help! I know now, not to fiddle!

In the future

If it happens again try using a different USB port. Worked for me when I had this problem. Information is to late to help this time but there is always next.

I did try all the suggestions here, including a new usb port. I will just bite the bullet and chalk it up to "User Error."

Since I was a dope and started going crazy with the Remover program... deleted every bad/duplicate link as well as so-called registry entries that Remover said were no longer in use!
