SDIO, 2B or not 2b?

I've seen a post here on this but web traffic here tonight is so high it's taking like 3-5 minutes for pages to load and I'm on a T1 line.
Is the Ax's sd slot SDIO or not. Can it be made SDIO through drivers, if so which ones. I want to do wifi but I have a bunch of CF memory cards and would rather use a wifi SD card. Anybody know?
Thanks

This is kind of unrelated, but Aximsite is pretty fast to me on a 1.5 Mbps cable, at every hour.

There are several threads that discuss the SDIO but I believe the general concensus is Dell says its not SDIO. No one has ever stated they got one to work in the Axim. Yes the chipset is compatable but the slot was not wired for it to save on prodection costs. And no, no one has figured a way to make it SDIO compatable. Not sure if that answered all your questions but it should be a start in conjunction with the search ...

To get you started there is a nice thread here:

Thanks, it looks like a NO and a dead issue. Oh well, I found Toshiba e740 refurbs for $230. May have to go that route and give the Ax to the girlfriend (Axim that is)

Just keep a supply of batteries .. I think that is one of the worst reported features by users That and do they (Toshiba) even provide support for that model anymore??

Edit: looks like it can't even be upgraded to WM2003 ... Thats if they haven't changed their minds ...

Yes they do, I just checked their website. In fact there is a recall on certain serial no. for battery failure and data erasure. The recall has you submit your unit for repair. if I do order one and the unit is inside the serial break at least I know it can be fixed, though one would 'think' a true refurb would already have this problem corrected
