Well, don't know about a pulpit....but this whole mess is driving me so insane that I'm about to go lay down for awhile.

Anyhow, if you are sending it in for replacement....I just hope for your sake that those A05 ROM fragments aren't still hanging around inside your Axim, or you might be receiving some nice letters from Dell one day.....just something to ponder for awhile anyhow. Have a nice day. ;)

Thanks for the kind warning - i'd really encourage you to talk to Dell so that they make darned sure that they check for it as well. It would be a travesty if I were to in some way come out ahead at the end of this whole debacle. While your at it, please ban me from your site.

Thanks and have a great day!

Just as a note, nobody is going to be banned from the site. But people who participated in this ordeal have lost my respect, as well as the respect of many others around here....especially those who are in the software development industry. I know that losing someone's respect probably doesn't mean much to you, but it does to me. Even if you do "come out ahead" at the end of this mess, it does not justify any of your actions.

Please delete my account then. This whole issue has been grossly mismanaged and I do not wish to be someone's moral scapegoat. All that I and a few others did was see whether the patch could be made to work on existing 2002 machines purely out of curiousity. If you wish to believe that the reason Dell took the patch of the site was because of that thread, then you are simply naive. At no time did we think we were doing anything illicit or illegal and the moment that a moderator stepped in to ask us to stop the discussion about what happened, we stopped. If there what we were doing was so horrific, then the thread should have been deleted the moment a moderator saw that it was there.

Good bye. Please delete my account.

Could this have started it? It was a mere what if on this thread:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...threadid=14868
And users on the other thread actually tried some stuff.

Should you have been discussing flashing 2002 on 2003 deftech?

I don't see what your point is. Jordan just speculated some time before how you might get Pocket PC 2003 back on your PC. What went on in that thread was much different than what happened with people hacking the setup. There was nothing that I read there that would lend me to believe that Jordan was saying "hack the setup to get it working".

Do the people reading and writing in that thread own the license for 2002?

I would assume so, but at no time did anyone talk about hacking to get it back.

Do I think Dell should offer a "roll-back" to 2002 for people who have PPC 2002? Yes.

But hacking the setup to do the same is not the right way to go about this. In fact, does anyone really know if you still own a license of 2002 after installing 2003? Seems like you would, but has anyone read the agreement?

Cageyjames,
I would really like to know that. I plan on backing up my A02 image when upgrading to mm2003 and restoring it if I decide that the upgrade isn't worth it.

Just as a note....that thread was discussing putting PPC2002 back on an Axim after it has been upgraded with the CD. Therefore, the user legally owns a license to both WM2003 and PPC2002. So there are no legal issues involved there.

The thread was moved the moment a moderator saw it there. We all looked at it that morning, and there were no posts in it regarding illegal matters. The only thing in there was people (including you) saying that "I tried to run the setup.exe, but it said I needed to already have A04 ROM installed....so it doesn't work for us PPC2002 users".....or something to that effect anyhow. There is nothing wrong with that, as nobody had done anything wrong (yet). None of us were around during the day that day....we can't possibly be around 24/7. Finally, later in the day, the thread was brought to our attention....and it was immediately moved offline for review.

So therefore, it was gone the moment a moderator saw it.

BTW, the mods work here for free. All of them have real jobs and they can't just hover over the board watching for idiots to do something illegal. They get to it as much as they can. In this case, as deftech said, the thread was removed as soon as it was detected to have gone sour.

If you get offended by the standards Chris has set for this board, by all means feel free not to visit or post. You won't be missed.

Thank you for not responding to the question that originally started this thread before deftech crapped on it without any provocation. My original question stands and I appreciate the feedback that has been given so far. Let's get back on topic, okay mods?
