X5 does not like coffee

I smartly spilled a coffe cup on my Axim. The thing still works except that the screen is not sensitive anymore. Pretty useless, isn't it ?

Guess I will either open it and see if I can do something, buy a new one or go for a HP 2215.

Too bad : i have nice screen protectors, a hardcase and a 1GB CF card ...

Ya that does suck, you could order a new screen. It would be less than getting a new one. . .

The thing is that I can't be 100% sure that it will work ok with a new screen. And changing the screen can be an hassle ...

If you were going to open it and was ready to throw it away if things go really wrong... then I suggest you wash parts using distilled water, let them completely dry and try again. People do this as a last option when they spill things like coffee or soda to their electronics...

Post this as a sell as is with its faults and I am sure there are some crazed AX gurus who would love to have some spare parts or experiment on it a bit. Put your price and I am sure the sharks will bite.

Since one can see some liquid between the digitizer and the LCD (that's my guess), sending ut back is not an option. I tried different techniques (sun, hair drier ..) but could not get rid of it. Guess I will try to open the beast

If it is not working sufficiently, I would say try opening it and see what you can do. There are lots of places that describe the operation of opening and working inside PPCs. Look on Google, maybe find something on replacing the screen, since that is the area you are working on.
If you can clean it then you are good to go, and don't need to spend more money. If not, well, you haven't lost more than you already knew you lost.

Let us know if you go under the knife, and how things work out. Some pics would be great to see too.
