I have had my Axim sync'ed to my computer at work for months with no problem. Recently I purchased a new home computer and set up to sync with that one as well. For about a month, I've had no problems sync'ing with both computers. A couple of days ago, I tried to sync at home and it would recognize the connection but keep trying to connect (the green connect icon would keep spinning as if looped). I tried deleting the partnership and creating a new one and even reinstalling Active Sync, but the results were the same. No problems sync'ing at work though.
Oddly, at one point while trying to connect, I got a warning from my Axim that the backup battery was dangerously low (it was showing as completely empty), even though it was previously and subsequently showing as being at 90%. Any suggestions before I pull out the rest of my hair? My apologies if this has already been addressed in another thread which escaped my attention. Thanks for the help!

Can't help with the Activesync without a little more information about error messages, software you've recently installed, operating systems, etc, etc, etc, but the battery problem is most likely NOT related. The b/u battery can sometimes move about it the little pocket, and if the fingers at the bottom of the pocket lose contact, the battery will show at 0%. What some people have done is to carefully clean the battery, gently lift the little fingers and use a small piece of paper on top of the battery to increase the pressure downward just a bit. On A/S I have noted that if you have recurring tasks the sync takes much longer. I've had the spinner spinning for what seemed forever, but which was probably about 2-3 minutes before it finally settles down. You might try removing all sync options and then add them back one at a time to see which one triggers the eternal spinner.

And, yes, I've tried a soft reset but no luck. I have not installed any new software but have just been using my Axim as usual for the past several weeks, which is why it seems odd that this just happened when nothing else has changed. I will try the battery suggestions and hope that it is just a coincidence that this is all happening at the same time. Now that I've deleted the partnership, I can't even create a new one on my home computer because of the connection problems (i.e. the never-ending spinner). AAARRGH! (thanks again for the help)

I recently has a similar problem with syncing between work and my home computer. I was running Activesync 3.5 on my work computer syncing without a problem. I have a Dell Axim running PPC2002 with the latest patch version. I have just purchased a HP iPAQ 2215 which is running WM2003 and requires Activesync 3.7. So I have upgraded my home computer to Activesync 3.7 to sync my 2215 and allow my wife to use my Axim. The last time I synced my Axim was at work. Immediately after the upgrade, I could not sync my Axim anymore, even after trying to delete the partnership. I eventually fixed the issue. I turned around and upgraded my work computer to Activesync 3.7 and now I can sync both PPC's to my work and home computers (very nice).
As a further note, I did a complete uninstall of Activesync 3.5 at home when I was upgrading to 3.7. I just did an upgrade of my work computer with doing an uninstall. I think that might have been my problem. Are you running the same version of Activesync on both computers?

Not sure if this will help your case but it is worth a try. If you have a USB crable on you home computer, try changing the crable to a different USB port. I have seen some problems were the PPC will have problems syncing but when it is moved to a different port, things start working again.

I have had this problem on an on and off again basis too. Fortunately I recently had a almost 2 month spell of good luck, until today. I upgraded my McAfee Virus-scan and haven't been able to connect since. The Axim keeps reporting "Unable to connect with current settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings", but that is the thing, nothing has changed!!!! I have rebooted both Dells (desktop and Axim), moved USB ports (ones on desktop and a powered hub) and still nothing.
This is the only thing that has ever bothered me about my Axim, and I will continue to blame M$ until someone tells me otherwise. ![]()

I subscribe to the old school of dealing with MS-DOS problems through numerous rebootings. A further reboot after I posted resulted in more frustration, but the second reboot "magically" fixed the problem (about 5-6 reboots of desktop and soft resets of Axim in total). This cannot be the answer. I need to know why this happens out of the blue after many days of blissful Activesyncing (new word), and why it isn't fixed after the first reset. I guess this will be one of the mysteries of the universe. SDS, I hope you are eventually able to solve your problems too.

I have the same problem every once in awhile. it starts to connect and then just stops. I can usually hit the power button on the axim and turn it back on and it connects just fine.
