I've read that the Socket WM2003 drivers work, but that they don't have the great utilities that come with the PPC2002 version.

Supposedly, Socket will soon be putting out some WM2003 drivers that have the utilities included. I'm still on PPC2002, so I'll probably wait until the full-featured drivers are available before I upgrade to 2003.

BTW, I bought my Symbol card for $30 from the guy on eBay and he provided great service.

Deja Vu all over again.

I purchased a Netgear MA701 for my X5 for Christmas. It worked fine until in mid-January. After several calls to Netgear Tech support, I managed to obtain a RMA number to return the product.

My household has several Netgear products (Wireless Cable Modem Gateway, two PCMCIA cards and the MA701). The only problem device is the MA701.

As I read this postings, I knew exactly what problems everyone had experienced. Plus, I appears to me that Netgear is fully aware that there is a product conflict between X5 and MA701. My conversations with tech support lead me to believe that updating drivers and resetting the device were on temporary fixes.

After I receive the replacement card, I'll post any results, comments and or progress here.

I got my MA701 when I got my Ax over a year ago. No problems whatsoever. I plug and unplug it 3-4 times a week use it to sync and stream video and audio, just lucky I guess.

Had my MA701 for over a year now. It gets yanked out and put back in about once a day. Been though PPC 2002, 2003 with it. Don't like the 2003 driver, but it continues to work. I had problems with DHCP so I set a static IP. Sometimes it needs a reseat if a reset doesn't make it talk to the SMC2804. My only problem now is after 10 minutes it justs disconnects from the network. To get it back, I just browse the network PCs with Resco Explorer - don't even need to map any shared folder.

i just got an x5 which came with a MA701. out of the 40 or so times i plugged it in, all but one came back with a 'card not recognized'.

i got a Ambicom card from compUSA for $29 after rebate, and it works great.

i wonder what it could be with the Netgear card? they usually make good hardware.

g'luck,
