To tell the truth, I tought it was a thread concerning the dissimination of the WM2003 update. Never did I think that it would be concerning a 'dummy' plug for the CF slot.
Nit-pick...
What about the jog dial sometimes being triggered when holding.
The cradle not having to be wiggled to join up with the Axim.
The puny speaker.
Having to use the stylus to openchange the battery pack and bending the hell out of the tip.
What about a headphone plug.
What about a better microphone.
With all its flaws. I really like my Axim...

And here is another not to AxiMonkey: Take out the cover while your Axim lies face up in front of you. Now look at the left and the right side. There'll you see - hopefully two little noses. I tried to measure the width of the arm under the nose. It's less than a millimeter.
So do you see it?
Quote: "pretty nice thick piece of plastic".
Is it thick? Is that what you call "thick"?!? Less than a millimeter?!? Do you even see the parts I'm talking about?
Hard to admit, isn't it?
Q.e.d., son! Now, who doesn't know what he's talking about?!?
And another one:
Quote: "shows you to be a relatively new and inactive member"
Well, I joined Aximsite March 2nd. You did on May 24th. Oh boy, you are really something!
If your other 384 posts are quality-wise like your postings here, then this shows that quantity isn't everything.
I spent some time in the German army. The radio guys there had a saying: "Erst denken, dann drόcken, dann sprechen." Roughly: "First think, then push (the button), then speak."
How about it?
Oh, and that one:
Quote: "who was just trying to provide you with some input"
Don't get me started! If your understanding of input is the pure denial that there are two tiny, thin noses that hold the cover in the slot, then we both must live in different realities.
No! You come here, and try to tell (an older member of this site) basically that he's doesn't know what he's talking about while I hold the crappy piece of plastic in my very hand.
Who do you think YOU are?
|
Who IS this nutcase?????
I take a few hours away from the board to get home and go spend some time at the gym and I get *this* waiting for me?? This is great stuff!!!!
At first I was wondering if I was going to post (you know...that whole "don't dignify it with a response" type thing) but this is too good to let go. I figure a happy medium would be to not address the poster directly but to just publically ridicule the poster's post.
Honestly guys....don't try to stop him--let him go--stuff like this doesn't come around all that often, thus making it all that much more special.
Now....if you'd like to take your "older than me" old ass and keep posting, go for it. Honestly man....my life could use the comedy! Spend some time away from the ruler measuring little plastic pieces down to the millimeter and go get some sun or something. Rumor has it there's a direct corellation between solar exposure and sanity. :p :p :p
And don't try to stop him!! :)
ok....so much for not addressing him directly....but I promise I won't do it again. The last thing I need is for someone (or something) this pathetic to be responsible for using the bandwidth that Chris is paying for.

hmm...I agree that atticus overreacted a little bit to AxiMonkey's first post in the thread, but AxiMonkey's response (questioning the identity of atticus and berating his post count) was a little over the top. if i were in the same position as atticus I would have lashed back in the subsequent post myself--but not to the same degree.
Anyway, if you talk to enough techs out there, eventually you will find one who will replace the CF cover under warranty without having to sue Dell Corporation.

I'm really not going to let this guy's post lead to any other negativity among the other posters here but I am going to clarify something for EEG.
I wasn't berating his post count....at all. My point in bringing it up was even though his time on the site is longer than mine, he hasn't been active....thus making him a relatively new face. That being the case, I've always believed that a little humility and bit of a cautious step can go a very long way in bringing yourself to the attention of the community you are trying to be a part of.
Putting it a little more simply--if you want to make friends in the sandbox, don't start talking crap to the kids that are already playing there. Be nice.
Now...please all---let's not do this. Honestly...the guy's just not worth it.

Wow...
I thought this was going to be interesting, but I never imagined this.
I am fairly new to Aximsite, and have found the members to be extremely helpful. However, this thread was bad from the start.
I feel your pain about the piece of plastic. However, it is not worth all of this fuss.
Did it break in a way that it is completely unusable? Looking at mine it doesn't look like that could be a case. Anyway, if I am wrong then I know you can get a replacement from Dell. You just have to have some patience.
When calling a call center you have the advantage of hanging up and getting another person. This means, if the first person says no then the next person may say yes if you learned where you went wrong.
I actually got a lot of problems solved by doing this.
In regards to suing, I doubt your attorney would even take the case. If they do, they will defiantly loose. You can take that to the bank.
All of that other name calling is unnecessary, and shouldn't be entertained. Who cares who has more posts. Did you get a new piece of plastic? NO! However, you got a number of good suggestions how how to get one.
That should be worth something to you.
