Alignment screen wont go away...

When I boot up my axim, the screen where you tap around the screen to align it will not go away. I complete it and it just keeps popping up, it takes about 30mins before it finally goes. What can be the problem? This unit was given to me by a friend in this condition, so I dunno about a warranty. Any help would be appreciated.

try to tap exactly on the center of the cursor. it sounds like your screen is re-aligning every time that you complete it. take it easy and give it a shot. anything beyond that most likely needs to be sent to dell.

Couple of things to check: Make sure you aren't dragging your fingers on the screen as you tap. If you do, then then digitizer sees that as a tap also and cannot resolve the screen. Also, if your friend used a screen protector, make sure nothing is under the edge of the screen pressing down. The digitizer actually goes under the frame of the display, so if there is a bit of paper, or screen protector, or whatever stuck under the frame, it is also seen as a tap.

Screen fix suggestions....

Go to this thread:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...=x5+screen+fix

and try the suggestions listed there.

The X5 screen problems you're having are fairly common, and lots of folks have had success in rectifying them by trying one or more of these.

Good luck! :approve:

Cool Read the archives - you can fix this!

I had exactly the same problem. The archives will tell you to carefully take apart your AXIM and look for the location where your email button has been rubbing on your ribbon cable for your display. I saw exactly where it was and with a little black tape, my AXIM is as good as new. BETTER in fact, as I cleaned the screen when it was apart. Oh and as always, do a complete backup before your take it apart and remove BOTH batteries.

This works. X5 RULE!
