I was wanting to know if anyone got affected from this new Worm that came out recently. My boss at home got it yesterday. He runs Windows 2000. I have Windows XP and I have recently moved so I havent had a chance to turn it on. I also have a question, if I like others running Windows 2000 or XP have their Axim synced to their computer, can the Axim catch this virus? If yes, how and if no, why not? Thanks.

I've been watching it try to penetrate the firewall I have setup at work. It can't get thru but keeps trying every 2-5 minutes from different IP addresses. By the looks of it there are alot of infected PC's out there.
We got it on our XP Professional computer. I emailed Dell with a quick list of symptoms (it had to be quick because it kept shutting down by itself). They responded with an automated message with the link for the fix. I updated windows (had a couple I had not done) and then installed the link. No more problems.
Mine was infected and like the dummy I am i thought something was wrong with my comp. So when I tried to reinstall XP Pro it didnt work. So I had to settle with the ME that my comp came with. I have had it since yesterday and it has allready messed up like 3 times. I wish i would have dont the windows updates now. REMEMBER DO WINDOWS UPDATES< THEY ARE A GOOD THING!!

No worms here but being a computer guru at work many people asked me about it. I think i printed out the removal instruction no joke at least 10 times yesterday. I am sure more today

do you still have a nice set of removal instructions? I can remove it, but rather than try to come up with a nice list for other people, it would be nice to have one that's already been made. I've tried explaining it to two people today and i'd love an emailed copy of it. if ya got it, i'd appreciate it if you'd send it to me at:
My mother called yesterday morning at about 10AM asking me if I knew how to remove it. At that point, I wasn't even sure what she was talking about....then I read up on it to find out all the details. But she and a friend of her's both had the worm on their computers.

I am not affect (thank googness). I too have autoupdate scheduled to download and install new updates/patches from Microsoft. Plus I am running a Redhat Linux firewall as well as filtering on my Cable/DSL router. I have seen attempts to penetrate but it couldn't get through. Just for further security, I have Zonealarm Pro on my XP box and I enabled it as soon as I heard about the threat.
