PCMCIA Modem doesn't connect
I am trying to a use the cf to pcmcia card convertor and a Xircom CreditCard Modem 56K (CM-56G) to connect on my Axim 5 with Microsoft® Pocket PC 2003 Premium Edition to connect to my ISP.
The problem I have is that it says it is dialing but does not connect. It does not pick up the phone line however. I can listen and it doesn't grab the dial tone. I have all the settings correct as verified by my local ISP. The Axim recognizes the modem as being the Xircom Credit Card modem. I have tried many times without any luck. It tells me it has failed due to an unknown error.... Anyone have any ideas of fixes? Many thanks for any advice...

I don't know if this is the problem, but is there a specified power requirement for these modems?
If there is, then that's likely your problem. Most PCMCIA cards require a 5 volt source, whereas the CF slot only pushes 3.3 volts. Some devices, like Kingston PCMCIA Datapak microdrives can run on 3.3 volts. Other devices may not work. I tried a Sierra Aircard 300 and it would not work. Chris...
