Screen Problem
Hey I got a question I'm having problems with my screen and it just started happening today. When I try to tap on the screen nothing happens I can't click on anything but if I hold the home button down I can click on anything I want and everything works. Very weird problem I have tried a hard reset and install 2002 same problem then I installed 2003 same problem I've tried updating the bios no go I'm really stumped on the what the problem could be I was thinking of maybe a short but the unit hasn't been dropped so I'm clueless of what it could be if anybody has any ideas or any suggestions ;let me know thanx

if you have a screen protector try removing and re-applying it

Is that an Axim in your pocket, or you just glad to see me?

Hey I went home and cleaned the screen and polished it very good I also took both the batteries out and left them out for the whole night put them back in and started it up it came up with the align stylus screen I touched all the sides and the stylus screen came up again I then pressed the home button and held it down and it worked if I press on the right side while using the sylus it will also work when the screen came up that tells you to copy and paste it worked without me pressing the home button but as soon as it got in to windows same problem happened stylus non responsive but when I hold the home button or press the right side towards the lowers bottom of the screen it will work fine I tried a hard reset I put 2003 same problem and 2002 same porblem so I'm very stumped right now if any body has any suggestions let me know also I'm thinking of taking the thing apart see if something came loose or something if anybody has taken the axim apart please let me know if it is hard or is it just like taking a computer apart any input would be helpful thank you.

The same's happened to me
Dell Axim X5 300mhz, 6 months old.
I can only use the touch screen when the home key is pressed. When I let go I get the odd flicker of response but it's not usable. This thread is nearly a year old... anyone have an update on the problem? Thanks!

Ah - looks like it's working OK now! I ran a business card around the edge to remove the dirt (as suggested in another post on this forum) and I think it's worked. That's what I get for keeping my Axim in a dusty bag...

seebeedee's solution did the trick for me. I was ready to slam this x5 into a block wall due to the screen problem
When trying to x out of a program the transcriber would open on the bottom, plus no response on the start menu. Ran a piece of floppy packaging around the screen edges and dug out all the dust and debris. Works like a new one! Thanks for the tip![]()
