AFAIK, there hasn't been any significant problem with CF cards - just sd.

compman.
Your card should be ready to use straight out of the package without any formatting.

The Sandisk is may or may not work well. I have a Taiwanese 256meg one that causes no trouble. So the answer is if you already have it, try it and see how it goes. Sandisk is supposedly replacing them if they cause problems.

The only comment on brand I have is that a Lexar 256 SD card I have is 3-4x faster in a USB 2.0 card reader than the Sandisk. Haven't tried it to see if it is the same situation in the AXIM.

woops didnt see you said CF, lol- i've been shopping around for a nice SD card all week and i repeatedly have seen "NO TO SANDISK" so many times in this forum that it'd been engrained in me to fear them =P

but about the CF ones, he's right- not many problems reported =)

I had some troubles with my 128MB Sandisk CF card. Basically, it failed when I tried to use big files (anything over 10MB would crash it). It's still Axim related, because it worked absolutely fine on my PC card reader...

Anyway, my advice would be to stay away from Sandisk for both CF and SD...

I had troubles with my 256 MB SanDisk CF card. It totally failed with the Axim and did not work on my PC reader. Stay away from SanDisk, you get what you pay for.

Hmmm... like many others (I am sure) I have Sandisk cards (CF and SD which I use all the time (always in the Axim) and have yet to have a problem.

They came preformatted (I just stuck it in the slot and used it) and has never dropped a beat. The SD card is used purely for music and the CF card is used for data and software.

I have had these for over 6 months now and no problems. During that time I have hard reset the Ax 3 times (twice to install A03 and once because I locked myself out with the boot-up password) and in all cases everything was right where I left it when the Ax was back up and running.

Do I think that they are the best thing since sliced bread? Probably not. They are good value for money, though, since they are often some of the cheaper cards on the market. Would I buy more Sandisk cards? Sure. Just did ... for my camera. Works great there too. :D

Ok, then why did this thing ask me to format? It's done it only once so far, but its strange nonetheless. I'll try it out for a little longer...

Well, yes and no. There is a bug in Activesync that causes problems with files over 16 Mbytes. Here is the link to the M$ article on it.

I only copy large files through my card reader, and then put the card back in the Axim. Where my files get corrupted if I use my 128MB card...
