I wanted to tell everyone that my Axim was dropped today for the 1st time.... Yikes !!!!
I was not careful and it fell, caseless, from about 5 foot off the ground. I was in the process of playing Snails and BAM !
I pause, cringed, said some expicitive, and leaned over to check out the damage. The FREAKING game was still on !!!! Yeah team... I rigorously tested all the buttons, turned it off, on, started almost every program and it ALL WORKED !!!
That is a tough little moster !!!
((( what's your story ? )))

I haven't dropped mine yet, but my friend dropped his in the toilet. Luckily it was before he actually used the toilet. He fished it out, took it apart, dried it up, and it worked fine.

At work we get to do drop tests:D. Believe it or not, the Axim did very well. Not as good as the ruggedized high end handhelds (symbol / casio), but the Axim did do well. Of course, if your screen happens to hit at an angle on anything... it's all over.
Let's just said, I won't be dropping my own Axim (knock on wood).

I has in the garage and set my Ax on the trash can for a minute and it slid off, with no case. BANG!!! I picked it up and it seemed to work fine. I also dropped it from around 3 feet while it was in the case......fine again. This i why I buy insurance lol.
Mine dropped from my shirt pocket the other day... With no damage apart some cosmetic scratches on the plastic... I have to give credit when it's due, Dell does some seriously solid stuff... :)
I have a program that shows juggling combinations on mine. I was showing some combinations to my friend that juggles (now I do too) and while was looking at my Ax he missed a ball and it knocked my Ax out of my hands. It hit the leg of a chair on it's way down, but it was fine once it got home to my hands. My case on the other hand has never been the same.

We are the people our parents warned us about.
I dropped mine while it was tucked into the pocket of my camera vest while I was trying to map some dirt paths in Hiati, on a bicycle. I hit a bump, the CF GPS uit slid out and the axim (naked) came out of my pocket and crashed to the ground. I stopped about 10 feet later, went back and retrieved it. The digitizer screen (not the display screen) was cracked and it wouldn't respond to some of the taps and the alignment of the taps versus positions was a bit off. All the data I had collected was fine. Later, I tried doing the screen alignment but after the last cross hair alignment, it kept going back to the first and the sequence would repeat itself.
I was considering purchasing a 50$ digitizer replacement and doing the job myself, but decided to call Dell to see what they had to say about my situation. They promptly sent a replacement unit which was a Pxa 255 (the old one was a pxa 250) and all is well!!!! I have told this story to many people and they are all impressed with Dell's handling of the situation.
I dropped mine from table height and it landed on the top plastic area.
After that the power on/off button felt funny like the parts shifted and button was sticking. This lasted for about two weeks then the parts must have shifted back on their own it its back to the normal feel.:)
I knocked mine off the back of a shopping cart (about waist height). I had just, that very day, put my Axim into its newly arrived DSI holster. It hit on what would have been the screen, now covered by the holster; bounced once (higher than I would have thought); and then skidded madly across the tile floor. The battery flew out and slid under the pickle shelf. I picked up the Axim and the battery, scraped most of the gunk off the battery (there is serious gunk under the pickle shelf!), and powered back up. All OK, including my shopping list! Even the case was undamaged. I've been an unpaid shill for DSI ever since.
I waited for the screen protectors to arrive before I took my Axim out of its plastic bag --- I didn't want to use it without a screen protector.
I took it upstairs last night to sync a file I had copied from a CD to my PC. When I was done, I put my Axim on top of the CD case to carry it downstairs. As I took the first step, my Axim slid off the CD and fell down the stairs! Fortunately the stairs are carpeted but the kitchen is not. The battery popped off but nothing appears to be broken. I'm really depressed . . .
I was walking and one hand hit the other causing the Axim to fall out of my hands on to the tile foor (about 5 feet). Somehow my foot got in its way and blocked it from hitting the tile. I had a huge bump on the top of my foot, but not even a scratch on the Axim.
I had it in my shirt pocket and bent over to pick up something off the tiled floor at work. It slipped out and I started to lunge for it and snatch it out of the air. My brain froze and told me to 'STOP - you'll probably whack it away even farther'. It hit the hard tile at about 45 degrees and then slammed on it's back (screen facing up.) No damage, no harm, nothing.
I have dropped my axim twice! One was a long time ago onto the tile in my kitchen. The other time was the other day in school, i was in math class and i had my axim out using the graphing calculator. Then somehow i hit it off onto the concrete floor :crooked: . Both time it survived, well the axim did, i had to spend like 5 minutes bending my innopocket case back into place. It still doesnt close perfectly. LOL
I was on the can playing word twist.. Then I proceeded to take a shower and thought I shouldnt keep the Ax5 in the bathroom with the steam from the shower. So I threw it on my bed and it landed softly on the comforter and sheets, no big deal.
When I came out of the shower I decided to fix my bed. I quickly pulled the sheets tight and out came my Ax flying through the air almost hitting the ceiling in a head over heels somersault fashion. I estimate this to be about 8' high ceiling. It landed on the carpet floor. I'm not sure what angle it hit the floor at. No scratches, still showing my Today screen and my word twist was on pause.
