saounds like some third party app may have toasted it??

Although there would no doubt be a way to go through and remove the offending item by editing the registry, you might find it just quicker and esier to do a hard reset and not install whatever it is that caused the problem.

I didn't quite get what your problem is but
if you mean that your Axim freezes when you click on StartMenu->settings ?
This will be because of a bad .cpl that some application installed
using fileExplorer go to the /windows directory (make sure to enable the "show all files" feature)
and look at the *.cpl files you have in there try to MOVE and SAVE them to another location (some cpl files will not allow you to move them, thjse files are in the ROM and can't be copied/moved and those files are OK, you are looking for an application copied cpl file)
once you move those cpl files, try to access the settings menu again
and return the cpl(s) you moved one at a time to see which one is caueing this freez
