For some reason my X5 only seems to want to sync and update with my pc about once a day.
When I click on Active Sync on the Desktop, all vital signs are there but then it fails to connect. Same with the cradled X5. I have tried soft reset but this made no difference. Grateful for any suggestions.

Hi,
I had this identical problem with my Axim and AS. The way I cure it is to always take the Axim out of the cradle before closing AS. Since I started doing it this way I have had no problems whatsoever. You didn't mention what version of AS you are running. I still use 4.2 and as it works well I haven't risked installing 4.5. So are you saying that once it syncs, even though the device is still connected, the Activesync icon will show disconnected and will change from it's green color. Or are you saying that if you uncradle (or unplug) and then reconnect the device, it won't sync ?

Try one of these links but if they don't work then you'll have to click through multiple Google pages I'm afraid. ActiveSync 4.2 - Reviews and free Utilities downloads at ZDNet.co.uk Download ActiveSync 4.2 Slainte.

No, sorry - I'm not too good at explaining myself sometimes. My routine is quite simple and what I am saying is that I used to get multiple AS problems: refusing to sync, losing partnerships, only allowing syncing as a guest. However if I religiously follow this routine then I seem to have no problems. This has worked with AS4.2 for months without a hitch. I don't suppose I do things any differently from most but here's my routine anyway: Make sure Axim is off Place Axim on cradle AS connects to device, looks for changes, synchronises After sychronisation remove Axim from cradle Close AS (Don't close AS with Axim still on cradle) All I can say is that this works for me and if it works for someone else then that is good. when you close AS while it's in the cradle does it say something like "USB device not supported" when you try to resynch. If so that is my problem then, been trying to figure it out. I can't remember the exact error message though.

Unfortunately I cannot say what that message would be because I always remove my Axim first but from memory that message sounds vaguely familiar although I couldn't swear to that. Slainte.
