Axim X5 Screen Alignment Loop
Hello, Someone recently gave me their X5. They had not used it in some time and when they brought it to me for help, I found that it appears to start properly but when the prompt appears for the screen alignment, after completing the required taps to the screen, it loops back to the beginning of the screen alignment sequence, over and over and over. It will not break out of the loop. I have reset the device, cleaned around the edges of the screen (from a suggestion from another friend), and even opened the case and cleaned out any dust/dirt that I could find, but there was little. I carefully reassembled it and it still boots, but it did not resolve the looping issue with the screen alignment.
If anyone has experienced this before or has any suggestions or solutions, please send them. Thanks, Rick Holder

I see units like this from time to time.
Here's what works most of the time: (partially redundant from above) -Take apart X5 top and bottom shell from m/b and screen assembly (6 screws total) -Separate the screen from the m/b (4 tabs and 3 ribbon cables). -I use cleaner and wipe the screen down completely with cotton pieces, then reassemble the unit. Alot of crap gets trapped between the shell and the screen. I thought the X5 was fragile, but I learned that it could withstand some pressure to take it apart. Quite rugged, actually.
