Mad Battery discharging mysteriously

Occasionally, my Axim will discharge overnight or when not in use for no apparent reason. Its like it turns itself on and then does not shut off automatically after inactivity. I have it set to shut off after 3 minutes.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Do you have many third party apps on your ax?

I have a friend who had his battery discharge almost completely over a weekend of not charging it. The only thing we could attribute it to was the fact ActiveSync was running on the Ax. I've experienced something similar, but not too severely. It also appeared to be due to AS.

The Ax, and all PPC's, wake up at midnight to set the next day's calendar. Normally that activity is so fast that you don't notice it. However, if you have anything else running in the background that then holds the Ax powered on, the batteries will be consumed. WiFi, GPS, ActiveSync, etc., are programs that can hold the Axim on. I make sure everything is off before I shut my system down for the night. I have Activesync set to sync only when I tell it to, never automatically and never on time. I make sure I never leave my WiFi or GPS cards in overnight. Most of the time I soft reset just before I shut it down just to make sure everything is closed and tidy.
