A Magnet and CF static memory?

Would a magnet clear a CF cards memory?

I ahve a problem where I can't detect a brand new compact flash as I think it needs to be scrubbed before formating.

I can't see the mount to use storage utilites to format... nor do I have another CF reader device.

No. CompactFlash memory is solid state memory.....it does not use magnets at all. So it is fine around magnets.

I thought static memory was a matrix of magnetic rings. Maybe that was how they used to make it..

I am not 100% sure of the component makeup of a CF card, but I can say I have been using the Covertec case with a magnetic closure with zero problems.

That technology disappeared many years ago. I think it's still taught as the principal of reading and writing still works (sort of) but the new technologies don't have any magnetic rings.
