Cannot Activate Axim 5 in either windows or linux. Help?

I just "rediscovered" my Axim5....it was sitting in my closet for the last 3 years. I know. A shame.

Anyway, we attempted to activate Microsoft Reader on it, and after we debugged the actual sync issues, it says that the version of Pocket PC is not new enough. From my understanding, the Axim5 originally came with Pocket PC 2002, and if that's the case, why am I getting this message?

Also, does anybody have any suggestions about syncing the Axim X5 with Ubuntu? I have found a few forums about that as well, but I keep getting error messages in different portions of the processes and I am afraid that if I keep messing with the terminal everything will suddenly begin to melt away and my computer will die with gasping shuddering breaths.

I am a newbie although I sound like I know what I'm talking about- I really don't. (which, I think is more dangerous to my hardware).

Anything at this point is most appreciated,

Ive got the 2003 SE, A05 Rom on ftp if you are interested, as for the other things, I have no idea.
