LA 4137 and internet page cannot be found

I have a Symbol (Motorola) La 4137 CF card. I am using it on an Axim X5 300 mhz with PPC 2002. I have had this for a while and finally decided to try wifi on it. Everything shows up as working fine until I try to access the internet. The status for mobile companion shows the signal, ip, and even pings back from the router. This works both from my home secured network and free wifi networks. All seems to work except the internet. Can anyone help me? I have read this site for a couple of weeks, off and on, and still no luck. I am not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. Thanks in advance. Any help would be great.

The failure to connect to websites is often due to having 'Internet' selected instead of 'Work' as the connection type. I think the following directions are accurate but it's been a while since I've seen PPC02 so they may be slightly different:

In the network settings - Start, Settings, Connections (tab), Connections, Advanced (tab), Select Networks and select "My Work Network" from both of the pull down lists. If you then tap the Edit... button under either list and the Proxy Settings (tab), the top box (This network connects to the Internet) should be checked but leave everything else on this page blank. After tapping OK, make sure both dropdown lists are still set to My Work Network and OK your way back to the Today page and then soft reset.

Thanks for the information. I tried all that was suggested and still no luck. With all that appears to be working, I am beginning to think that it may be my PPC software. I have also tried the netfront v3.1 browser. Thanks for everything unless you have any other suggestions.

Check he troubleshooting section of the WiFi Guide (linked from my signature). There may be other solutions I'm not thinking of.

To use the WiFi card for internet access from an access point that has an internet connection:

Go to:
Start > Settings > Connections > Wireless Ethernet >
My network connects to:
[The Internet]
Tap an adapter to modify the settings:
[802.11b Wireless LAN]
(0) Use server assigned IP address
click (OK)

A pop-up notice that the next time the adapter is used it will have the new settings.
click (OK)

You are back to the Wireless Ethernet settings:
click (OK)

You are back to the Connections tab
click (OK)

You are back to the desktop/start menu
remove and re-insert the card -or-
remove the card, turn off the x5
insert the card which will wake the x5
enjoy the internet from open WiFi connections.

For protected connections you must enter the necessary information in the LAN Profile for that access point.

To do that, gather the information (password/WEP/WPA/etc) which protects the access point.

Once you are within range of the access point, click on the icon in the lower-right of the screen.

Select [WLAN Profiles]

Select the access point to modify

Click on [Edit]

Go through the tabs at the bottom of the screen filling the information you previously gathered.

Click through the save/OK prompts to get back to the desktop/start menu.

Once you save the correct information in the profile you will connect automatically when you are within range of that profile.
