Targus CF dialup modem disconnects

I have a Targus dialup modem PA560 and I was wondering if these things have some sort of power saving mode or something. I ask this because I get disconnected very often but usually in the invervals of 15 minutes.
I know it might be my isp, but it is stable on my desktop so im just curious about why it makes browsing on my axim soo annoying.

(wow this site is ppc friendly nice!)

So anyone know if it has a auto sleep mode or something that I seem to read about in the wifi cards?

I doubt that the modem has any powersave but there may be a setting in the internet connection settings that disconnect after a certain time. I've never used a dial-up modem so I cannot give you precise instructions but I'd look under Settings, Connections (tab), and modify one or more of the connection settings.

It's been a while, but I used to play an online game and was getting disconnected a lot. Not a regular amount of time like in your case though.

If I remember right, the problem was in the way the modem was set up to receive and transmit information. There was a setting for some sort of compression. I'm sorry I'm not being of more help. Maybe try doing some searches on google. Good luck.

After doing some experimenting I have disconvered that if I dial in with netfront3 I wont get disconnected, but if I were to connect with pie then I would likely get disconnected. Very odd.

I have a socket 56k modem and don't have this problem ... so I'm guessing it's not a setting for the Axim itself. (I have used this modem with both PPC 2002 and WM 2003, recently.) This makes me think it is a Power, Connections setting specific for your modem: mine doesn't have anything that would let me set the logoff time.

mine does not give me power settings or log off type settings either. I was just speculating the possiblility of software or something that might change it. I guess that type of thing doesnt exist. I guess all I will have to do is just experiment and use netfront to dial.

I have the same modem, but have not used it in a while. Not since before I upgraded to PPC 2003. Is anyone using it under PPC2003 without any problems??
