Huge problems with letter recognizer
Basically, I can't enter any character which requires a second dot to finish it. Exclamation points, question marks, colons, semicolons... the letter "i" I can still do by using an upward stroke, but I was used to doing it like an L with a dot.
The weird thing is, the character I want pops up for a fraction of a second, and then disappears. So, for example, if I'm writing an i the way I'm used to, the L comes up first (which is normal) and then when I put the dot on top, an i shows up next to it for a fraction of a second and then disappears, and I'm left with just an L. It's meant to be replacing it, not coming up next to it and disappearing. :)
Before I noticed the disappearing thing, I thought it was just a problem with the screen protector I had (I forget the old brand I was using, though, left the packet in my home-away-from-home halfway across the world :) ), but it made no difference without the screen protector, or with my new Belkins, so it must be some kind of weird software thing rather than anything physically wrong with my Axim.
Anyway, does anybody have any idea have any idea what's going on? I can't think of what I could've done to make it go all wacky.
I hope I don't have to try to back everything up and perform my Very First Hard Reset Ever to try and fix it, because that would suck. :) I've only had my Axim (my first handheld of any kind) for just over three months, after all.
Oh, and I'm running Pocket PC 2002 if that's helpful.
UPDATE: Somehow prepping my trusty Axim for a hard-reset by backing things up, moving things around and uninstalling a couple of programs fixed it... I tried to delete this post, since it's now pretty useless (no idea why it happened or how it got fixed, plus it turned out not to be a hardware problem, so I put it in the wrong forum) but apparently I can't. Any admins who'd like to are welcome to. :)
