I started playing with the Axim for the first time yesterday. I inserted the cf card I purchased with the unit from Dell, but don't see any indication that it recgonized it... how do I tell?

Open File Explorer, and make sure you are at the directory root (which is "My Device") and you should see an entry called "CF Card" if it is detected.

Wow, really quick response. I wish I had the unit with me but it's my Daughter's (Christmas present from her wonderful Mother for school) and I'll have to give her a call and have her check this out.
Now, what do you suggest if we don't see it?

I didn't see my CF card when I tried it. (My first PPC) Turned out I just hadn't pushed it in far enough. <G>
When you put the CF card into the Axim it feels like it's in all the way but that's just it hitting the pins, you have to then push a bit harder to get it seated. My CF card ends up with most of the card below the top of the Axim. The card is seated when the left corner (screen facing you) is flush with the edge of the socket.
Hope everything works out.

You can also do this. Go to Start ------>Settings. Choose the System tab, then Memory. Choose the Storage Tab, and scroll through the drop down menu until you see CF card. If you choose that it will tell you how much free space that you have. Also, make sure the card is pushed all the way down. I was hesitant at first because I was worried about breaking something, but you have to make sure it is seated correctly.
