Axim will not power up with power button
Yesterday I upgraded to 2003 A05 and, initially, it worked fine after working out the active sync stuff. This morning it wouldn't power on after pressing the power button. It will turn off, and dim the screen, but the only way to turn it on is to do a soft reset. Any suggestions?
The battery icon has also disappeared.
This issue may be addressed in earlier threads, but I haven't had time to go back very far.
Thanks.

The display isn't dimmed is it?
After I upgraded to WM2003 whenever I turn it on the display is on the lowest setting, barely able to make it out. Try holding down the power button after you initially turn it on...

there is no battery icon on the today screen in 2003. the brightness and power settings are now integrated into the switcher bar in 2003.

thanks for battery icon info; the screen isn't dim==I've tried holding it down for several seconds. The screen dim function works both ways when the button is pressed. It simply won't power on until I press the soft reset button. thanks.

And the hard reset didn't help?
If not, maybe try to reinstall PPC2002, see if it works then. Then try to upgrade to 2003.

Found the answer to the power on problem in another thread. Removed driver for foldable keyboard, and, voila!, the power button now turns the Axim on. Do you believe it. Will check for new foldable keyboard driver compatible with 2003, but I'll bet it doesn't exist yet.

Wow, that's a heck of a driver problem. Was that the Dell Foldable Keyboard?
Glad you got that figured out, that would be a pain to soft reset everytime you wanted to turn it on.

I'm glad this forum exists. I just had the same trouble, and it turned out to be the Dell snap on keyboard driver. Now I'm a little confused -- I thought I would be prepared for when my keyboard arrived, but without drivers will it still function? I just installed the drivers last week and I can't imagine that others who have the keyboard had no troubles with it..

hoffmeyc,
You must have used the old drivers. The newest (v 2.07, I believe) should work fine with WM03.

I had the same problem while using a 2003 beta Belkin BT CF driver. Once I got rid of the device and driver, no more turn on issue.

I also had that problem after I loaded the program for using the navigation button as an "enter" key. I downloaded it off of this website under the "axim downloads" link.

I installed the Axim X5 Center Navigator Button patch file program and my power button stopped responding. To turn on the pda, I had to do a soft reset or remove and reinsert the battery (soft reset is the better choice). Once I removed this app, everything started working again.
