True Moblie Problems

I just recently installed a true mobile cf card on my Axim 5 (400mhz). I got the card to connect to my wireless network and was able to go online. Then I left the area of my network and when I came back it began having problems. If I am in range of the networkthe True Mobile softwaresays I have a connection ( if
I right next to it it says excellent signal and if I move to other rooms it says good or marginal, as it should), but the light on the true mobile card won't show that there is any activity( it's on but it won't blink or flicker like it did when there was activity, when it worked of course) and I can not connect to the internet any more. I was wondering what happened, and why if it has a signal is there no activity. Also if I have a wireless router/acces point ( linksys) should the settings be set to access point or P2P. I would guess access point. Alright that's it any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the Wireless forum and read the FAQ in the first thread. That will explain the difference between infratructure mode (access point) and adhoc (p2p). There might be some other tips in there that will help you out.

Once you've read that, confirm what your settings are here for both the AP and the Card and how far you're getting. What OS are you using? Does the card associate etc.

I have PP2002 on my axim. And I have already set up my network but the true mobile card stopped fully connecting to the network. Like I said it says it is connected and that the signal is good yet the activity light does not blink like it should and i can not connect to the internet. i will still look over that post when i have some time. Thanks. If anyone can think of why this is happening it would be great.

If you look you will see that you don't have an IP address. If I turn on my Axim with the wireless card installed while not in range of my network I get the default IP address. All you need to do is a soft reset and it will get a valid P address back. Just keep in mind that you better pull your card while out of range or risk losing your IP address. I have tried other utilities to renew the IP address but none work. The only solution I have found is a soft reset.

PocketDHCP should let you release and renew the IP if you lose your connection with the router.

I downloaded the pocketdhcp program. According to that program i do have an ip address. I attempted to release it and renew any way. And it came back with the same address. Still no internet. i had attempted a soft reset earlier but i attempted it again but still nothing. Thanks for the replies anyway.

Sorry to say but, I had almost the exact same problem. The card worked great the first couple of times, then I had to constantly install/remove the card till I got a flickering light. That damn only orange light thing is a sure sign that you have a bad card. If you have a orange light with a green flicker about every 20-30 sec its looking for a ap and should be ok. I called dell and they sent me a new one.
