Question reminders turn on Axim and drain battery

Does anyone know of a way to have the Axim shut off after a reminder turns the Axim on? I have had my axim completely drained several times because a reminder has turned it on.

I checked under the Power settings and it is set to shut off after 3 minutes, however, it does not seem to work if there is a reminder active. I am running PPC2003.

Under Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications, Reminders: make sure you remove the checkmark for "Flash light for". This is the setting that keeps the power on for the power button to flash green as a reminder notification.

I have tried changing that setting and will see if it works.
