Hi, my Axim5 just don't want to sync via infrared. Is there anything I need to set on laptop or pda?

My laptop recognises the device, because a icon appear on desktop, but disappears after a few seconds without synchronizing.

Any advise is welcome as I am a newbie.

Be sure the IR receive is turned on in your Ax settings.

I had the same problem under XP and 2K. The solution I found is to uncheck the box for "Use Wireless Link to transfer images from a digital camera to your computer." It is found in the Wireless Link Control Panel Applet on the Image Transfer tab. You also need to check that your connection settings in Activesync are set to allow serial cable or infrared connections on the IR port.

Ok I did all of the above, but it's still not working. The IR icon appears, but it doesn't sync. Is it suppose to start automatically? Or do I have to manually do something on my laptop of X5? If I double click on icon, a box appears where you have select files to send to device, but should it not automatically sync when connected? You know like when you put your device in the cradle? What am I doing wrong?????

Line up the infrared ports on Axim and laptop, open activesync on the Axim and click Tools at the bottom of the screen and select Connect via IR...

Your Axim will then sync with the laptop and disconnect when done syncing.
