My charge/sync cable got lost, so my Axim was without charging for about 3 weeks.
After I got the cable I had to replace the backup battery - is was "very low"
I pluged the cable - the battery meter says - "charging" and stays on 0%
I've been charging it for about 3 hours - same sh#¤.
When I unplugging the cable it goes into "sleep mode" directly.
Hard reset doesn't help - any ideas?

Sync/Charge cables cannot charge the Axim below about 80% of main battery. Use the mains charger to get it back to 100% and the sycn/charge cable can top it off. It reads "charging" because it senses the power on the connection and assumes sufficient current is there to charge it. The Axim mains transformer puts out 2410 mA of power, but standard USB ports are required and provide no more than 100 mA and even upgraded USB ports are to provide no more than 500 mA. The flatter the battery the bigger the draw into the charging circuit. What happens is that at about 80% the draw to charge exceeds the 500 mA maximum the USB port can provide so the circuit starts pulling power FROM the battery to charge the battery, a negative cycle that actually accelerates the discharge rate. Even the cigarette lighter/USB chargers usually only provide 850 mA, so althought somewhat better than a standard USB port, it's still well below the 2410 provided by the Dell unit.

If you don't have the mains unit from Dell, be careful when buying a replacement that it provides plenty of power and is near 5.4 v (plus or minus no more than 10%). A lot of units provide less than 1000 mA and simply won't support the Axim well.
