Wcf12 Wi Fi Card Not Staying Connected

After a couple of days of messing around with drivers trying to get my WCF12 to work, i finally managed to get it to "lock on" to my base station.!

The problem is, i cant seem to get it to "stay connected", in other words it disconnects after about 20 seconds each time i try to log on..

i have a X3i which connects perfectly all day to the same router without any problems.

does anyone have any input, as to what the problem may be.!
is the axim x5 basic just to underpowered, or is the wi-fi card faulty maybe..! !

not sure if i should send this new card back, or have i have missed something somewhere.!(in the settings)

any ideas welcome...thanks...

I'm not familar with the linksys drivers but if there is a powersave mode, try disabling it. That can cause the kind of issues you are seeing.

hmm...it does mention on the box something about power saving option to save battery power, but i cant find any option for it at all in the axim itself.!

surely its not built into the card by default.!

Are you running 2003 or 2002??

On 2002 there is a checkbox on the driver configuration page.

On 2003 there are a couple of different drivers floating around. I haven't used either but if might help if you tell us which one you are using and someone else might be able to help.

ok thanx here goes, i'm using the version 2003.ok and the driver is the latest of Linksys site
The Cisco-Linksys LLC.

Product: WCF12

Classification: Driver Release History

Release Date: 1 / 19 / 04

Setup Wizard: v1.1

i have tried both beta and this one above, and the one that came with the product cd, nothing will connect properly, the latest one will connect for about 20 seconds, but you cant get on a web page or anything, then it just lets go and i loose the connection..hope this helps diagnose the prob.!

just out of curiosity, so i can have a look, where would i find exactly the..."checkbox on the driver configuration page"
where is it i look.? in the axim or on the pc.?

You're running 2003, not 2002. :)
