Hi all,
I can succesfully connect my Axim to my Laptop through IR. No problem there. But this is only for work. When trying to sync with my home PC, I use the USB cable that came with the Axim. It worked before. But then I had a crash (my motherboard had to be replaced). And now, no way to connect them. When I plug the Axim, Windows (XP) sees a new peripheral (DELL Axim USB Sync). But ActiveSync doesn't do anything. Icon stays gray. No 'Newx Partnership wizard' Does anybody have a clue what might go wrong here ? Thanks ![]()

Possibilities
You didn't say what you did regarding the blown motherboard. Did you completely re-install your operating system and apps? If not, how did you convince WinXP to play nice with your new motherboard (different processes have different success rates).
Also, one very important thing. Uninstall any antivirus software and turn off the WinXP firewall if it's active. It turns out that the presence of Antivirus software (just disabling doesn't work--I know, because I spent an entire week wrestling with this particular problem on a friend's X3 with the same problem) or a Firewall will kill usually kill a new connection.

I just replaced my motherboard. The hard disks and other peripherals were not damaged at all by the crash. So I also kept all programs installed as before.
I do have an antivirus (Symantec), and also a firewall (Kerio Personal). But after reading a lot of articles in forums such as this one, I tried to reinstall ActiveSync with both of them shut off (not just disabled). But it did not work ...

Shot #2
I had to completely uninstall anti-virus and firewall software in order to get the sync to work initially. After I got the partnership established, I was able to install the anti-virus and firewall software fine.
Also, if that doesn't work, it's beginning to sound like a re-install of Windows XP.
