Mad powering off automatically

I have an X5 that until recently was working beautifully. In the last week or so it seems to power off when I use certain programs after a minute or so. My setting for turning off power are set at 15 minutes for both battery and plug in power.

Most notably my axim shuts off while in the "Notes" program and when I pause the game "cubicle Chaos" that came with my set-up.

Is this happening to anyone else??? Is there a fix?

Also, my battery power is not an issue when this happens. It happened today with 46% left on my battery meter.

Thanks for the help.

It is a backup program that if you have battery monitoring enabled, it sometimes causes spontaneous shutdowns.

I do not seem to lose any info. While playing the cubicle chaos game, it will power off. Then I hit the power button to get it to come back on, and it does. Sometimes it requires an additional press of the pwer button, but when it works it starts off where I left off (Game Paused).

So I have not had any issues with losing info, just that some programs, while left idle for more than 30 seconds, turns off my Axim.

THANK YOU Raynne413! I was starting to get frustrated when my Axim would just power up on its own then shut down 1 minute later. It would do this when it was in the cradle and stand alone. I had never even thought that it could be the battery monitoring in Sprite. Again, thank you!

OK, now I don't mean to make any insults to your intelligence or anything but have you checked ALL the power settings, i.e.;

Start --> Settings --> System --> Power --> Control - Battery and External settings

Start --> Settings --> System --> Brightness --> Battery Power

Start --> Settings --> System --> Brightness --> External

Also, have you tried checking to see if there are other programs running in the background that could be causing this problem?

Start --> Settings --> System --> Memory --> Running Programs

Just my ideas seeing that you say it's when the unit is idle.

Unfortunately I can't speak on problems with the Media Player. I can however suggest you try Pocket Music (free), WinamPAQ or withMP3. All of those proggies override shut down settings when they're running.

Hope that helps...
